One of “Those” Writing Days

Today is one of them.

Don’t get me wrong–I’m not discouraged, not at all. In general, I’m very positive and upbeat about a variety of things today.

But this morning, I looked at an old story and a couple of recent first drafts, and felt like I was staring into a refrigerator box full of knotted up Christmas lights. I know I’ll get them untangled eventually, but damn. And I might get impatient in the middle and start yanking. That would be bad.

I think today is a day for structuring new things or even writing rought draft material instead of editing. Also, chocolate.

I hear you, Shelley. And I echo the call for chocolate. 🙂

Good, then let that be our battle cry! 🙂

I’m actually about to go the store to buy what I need to make eggplant parmesan, peach cobbler and garlic bread. I guess I cook when I feel overwhelmed.

Come on over for dinner. I’ll wedge chocolate in there somewhere.

Sometimes words look like knots, don’t they? I’m sure you’ll come back to the stories later and find a way to untangle them.

Peach cobbler sounds like a good way to combat the writing blues.

You know, it was. A nice dinner, then peach cobbler warm with ice cream, while watching a few recorded TV shows with the young’un. Came back refreshed today.

That’s the power of peach cobbler. Fear it.
